2004 - 2005 (present)

Hey Hey Guys,

Sorry this has taken so long to update, but life in the world of Re-Play has been pretty hectic.

Hopefully you guys are all enjoying the website, now that its all updated and looking fresh. The newsletter will be updated regularly to fill you in on what’s up.

So for those who need a little update in who’s been down, who’s been around and how we have been getting DIRTY in your town, here it is for your reading pleasure.

2004 saw the birth of Re-Play and the development of our band, sound and attitude. In 2005 we have been honing these abilities and fine tuning our skills.

December 2004 saw the end of our first “tour” which was a little shaky, as those who were there will know, and left us a little disappointed, but never the less we took it in our stride and saw the New Year in with style.

This being our first New Year together as a band, we spent it in Kenton-On-Sea and it rocked out solid, as we enjoyed the beach, booze, ladies and killer music provided by some of South Africa’s finest. Big up to Wickhead, 16 Stitch and Fokofpolisiekar, awesome performance guys.

We know this is a bit dated, but just to keep everyone in the loop.

January to March this year was quiet, just kept our fingers warm with a couple of gigs here and there, Roxy’s and Songwriters being favourite watering holes for our loyal supporters, whilst we were preparing for bigger things to come.

May and June saw Woodstock on the horizon. This year being slightly different than last. Last year after the kick-ass party, we all vowed to play the festival this year. So we started preparing our portfolio presentations. Unfortunately we did not make it on the original bill, but thanks to enough enthusiasm and a LOT of “WORK” we managed to be short listed for the first ever Woodstock competition notably named – BATTLE VIR WOODSTOCK.

With 25 bands from around the country short-listed from 125, this promised to be and awesome competition. We made it through the finals along with three of S.A’s finest up and coming bands. Shout out to Candy Fly, Epicure and Sub Rosa. Shot for the party boys.

Final battle night came and competition was intense with each band sparing no cost or gimmick for main prize, prime time slot at Woodstock and R35 000 PA system. Second prize being an opening slot at the festival.

Night came to a close and we all performed like demons. Unfortunately we did not make it through with Candy Fly taking 1st place and Epicure a close 2nd. Sub Rosa taking the wild card entry. Well done guys. Oh, and thanks to the loyal supporters who made it out to every battle. Big Up to Katie, Sam, Sarah, Roxy, Tam, Jen and Steph, our loyal Re-Play Girls and No.1 fans. Thanks Girls!

But do not dispair all ye faithful. Thank to a lot of luck, Nancy, Clint, Debbie and the crew at Authentic Ideas, we had the privilege and honour of opening the Blunt Stage onSaturday afternoon at Woodstock 7. It was awesome. Thanks again guys. We also managed to get ourselves a couple of acoustic gigs at the Songwriters tent. Thanks Jasons and Melanie, it was wicked. Check out the pics.

Well the weekend rolled to an end and we rolled back to JHB, very tired, dirty and hung over as another Woodstock had come and gone. Thanks to all of you who missioned out to see us. Moms, Dads, family, girlfriends, G-man, Chop, Roo, Dave, Missy, Steve, the Re-Play Girls and all the people who just tocked out with us, you made it hardcore.

But there is no rest for the wicked. Before we could relax and rant about the weekend’s events we were back at t, with Global battle Regional Finals in two days. TWO DAYS AFTER WOODSTOCK. Any normal person would consider this madness, but we love it. So back on stage we were with our fellow competitors Sub Rosa. We won the judges over that night and made it through to the national finals on 06/11/05, along with a new band Judith who really brought the heat. Nice one guys.

But the highlight of this amazing year is still to come into effect. As of about five weeks ago we have just been signed to Authentic Ideas on a trial agency period, which comes into full effect in January 2006. We are currently lined up till the end of the year to gig. So check back soon. Our gig guide will be constantly be updated so you can check when we will be in your part on the world.

Remember, if we’re in your town, pull through, listen, party, have a good time and stay to have a drink with us!

See you guys soon.
