Re-Play is a young four piece rock band from Rivonia. Having formed in 2003, the band has developed from a budding high school garage band, to a formidable rock force, with a distinctive sound and presence that is both familiar and unique. They have performed throughout SA at a variety of small events, as well as some of the largest events including Woodstock. They were finalists in the MK89 Battle Vir Woodstock television series which in many ways helped them on their path to the public space they now occupy.
The band draws strongly on influences from stadium rock bands from the eighties, and whilst the stimulus of classic rock bands such as Guns ‘n Roses, and Bon Jovi are evident in the songwriting of Danny and Chad, you will also find that there is an idiosyncratic and strong contemporary element that blends superbly to create modern anthemic rock standards. A challenge for any creative unit, but one that is met with ease from these four boys and presented with fresh faced charm and excitement.
Their tales are of love lost and found, inspiration, society shackles, human relationships, escaping prejudice, being alone, escapism, drug abuse, tough times, and finding your soul mate. Universal themes as seen through the eyes of developing young men struggling to find their place in the world.
The independent unit recorded their debut album at Studio One Music and was produced by Garth Potterton of Mean Mr Mustard. Garth’s inspiring pop sensibility has been applied to the songs, presenting an overall accessible package with mass appeal.
The album, As One Door Opens…, features ten original songs and will be independently released via the band.
